Walt Disney World Sales Team Helps With "Hope for Haiti" Telethon

Disney VoluntEARS Played Supporting Role in Worldwide Broadcast


LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (January 28, 2010) – The Walt Disney World Resort Sales and Services team joined other Disney Cast Members in providing support for the "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon that aired on Friday, January 22, 2010.  More than 400 Cast Members volunteered to answer more than 15,000 calls for the telethon and route donations to disaster relief organizations participating in the historic event.

Anne Hamilton, vice president of Resort Sales & Services, led the team of Resort Sales and Services Cast Members who participated in the effort, which took place at Disney Reservations Centers in Orlando and Tampa. "I couldn’t be more proud of our Sales & Services team," said Hamilton. "We talk a lot about the ‘magic’ of Disney, and the telethon showed again that the real magic is our dedicated team of professionals."

The two-hour telethon aired worldwide on major networks and cable outlets. More than 100 of the biggest names in the entertainment industry appeared with hosts George Clooney, Anderson Cooper and Wyclef Jean. Music superstars who performed for the event includedBono, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and many more. 

Helping the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon is one of many ways The Walt Disney Company and Disney Cast Members are extending their support to the people of Haiti. The Walt Disney Company has committed $100,000 in humanitarian aid through the Red Cross International Fund to support relief efforts and is working closely with Cast Members from Haiti to accommodate their needs during this difficult time. Cast members also have the option to make direct contributions from their paychecks to the Red Cross Crisis Relief Fund.
