Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
to Expand In 2009

Expansion adds guest room capacity for meetings, conventions and incentive programs

ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 14, 2008) – The Disneyland Resort is expanding its popular Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in Anaheim, Calif.    Scheduled for completion late next year, the 2.5-acre expansion on the hotel’s south side will add more than 200 new hotel rooms and 50 two-bedroom equivalent vacation villas.

“With its 20,000-square-foot convention center and sophisticated amenities, the Grand Californian Hotel is one of Southern California’s most sought-after meeting locations,” said Robert Donahue, director of resort sales and services for the Disneyland Resort.  “The expansion allows us to host larger conventions, meetings and incentive programs by creating more rooming options for groups.  It also increases overflow options for groups meeting at our other the nearby Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.”

In addition to the new accommodations, the expansion will include a new rooftop location for viewing fireworks, a new swimming pool and a 300-space underground parking garage.

The additions will carry out the California Arts & Crafts architecture of the existing hotel, which immerses guests in a turn-of-the-20th-century California experience.

Peter Dominick of the architectural firm 4240 is designing the addition.  Dominick was the original architect for Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, as well as Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge which are located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa currently features 745 guest rooms, including 44 suites. Upon completion of the expansion, the hotel will feature 945 guest rooms, including 44 guest suites, and 50 Disney Vacation Club two-bedroom-equivalent vacation villas.
