Napa Rose Top Chef Receives Top Honor
ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 4, 2010) –Napa Rose Restaurant Executive Chef Andrew Sutton has joined the esteemed culinary ranks of the late chef and author Julia Child. Last month, Sutton was awarded the Antonin Carême Medal, presented by The Chefs Association of the Pacific Coast, Inc. The medal honors those rare individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the profession, particularly to education and the advancement of cooking and the culinary arts. Sutton is the 148th individual to receive the medal in the program's 40-year history. Child was the 28th honoree when she received the award. A 26-year culinary veteran, Sutton accepted the medal for a lifetime of achievements, including his involvement in creating the award-winning Napa Rose menu that features hand-selected ingredients from throughout California's diverse regions. Napa Rose is the five-star restaurant Sutton helped launch when he joined the Disneyland Resort nine years ago. "This medal means so much to me," Sutton said. "It is truly humbling to be recognized for outstanding and lasting contributions. For me, what it's really about are the people I work with and the guests we serve." Napa Rose Restaurant is an exquisite dining experience that allows meeting attendees and top performers to delight in specialty dishes and seasonal creations that celebrates California's legendary Napa Valley. The 237-seat venue is open daily for dinner, and features a 78-seat lounge. Groups of up to 25 can enjoy an elegant private dining room that features expansive windows and a fireplace. Napa Rose is located at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and has received high honors for its outstanding food, wine, service and hospitality. In addition to the Antonin Carême Medal, Sutton's honors include being named 2005 "Chef of the Year" by the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association, and being recognized by Santé Magazine with its 2003 award for "Best Menu for Wine." He also became a Certified Level One Sommelier in 2002.
